Researchers at Rutgers have demonstrated that using a combination of twowidely used drugs Celebrex (celecoxib) and Lipitor (atorvastatin) blocks the transition of early stage prostate cancer to its more aggressive and deadly stage. The researchers objective was to find a way to indefinitely delay the change in the tumor to an aggressive form (this keeps the tumor sensitive to androgen blocking medications which are relatively non-toxic when compared to chemotherapy drugs that are needed for late stage tumors). The results from their study suggest that a combination of Lipitor and Celebrex may be an effective treatment for the halting prostate cancer progression from the first to the second stage.Human trials are planned at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of in New Jersey. from: http://healthblaster.com/2008/04/celebrex-lipitor-combo-may-halt-prostate-cancer/
