Recently published reports on snus are confusing many snus consumers. Some researchers of Swedish National Institute claim that snus increases the risk of cancer and death from cardiovascular disease.

The sale of snus has increased in Sweden over a period of years, and more and more use snus. More than one in five men and one of 25 men use snus daily in 2005. An upward trend in recent years among young girls, gives particular cause for concern. Health effects of snus have thus of great importance and it has become increasingly urgent to enhance the understanding of snus effects on health.

With support from the National Public Health Institute, the Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) in collaboration with MEB (Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics) at the Karolinska Institute conducted a risk assessment based on new scientific findings that have emerged in recent years and reprocess its own research material. The results presented in a new report that we are on safer grounds in terms of the impact of snus has on health.

- The results deserve public attention. They contradict the widespread notion that snus would be innocuous. From a health as smoking should not be replaced by snus use of tobacco, but, says Director General Gunnar Ågren at the National Public Health Institute.

Scientists have made an overall assessment of experimental and epidemiological studies. The results suggest that the Swedish snus is carcinogenic. The cancer, for which evidence is strongest, is the cancer of the pancreas. Even in the case of cardiovascular diseases, research has yielded greater knowledge. Snus seems - unlike smoking - not to be an independent risk factor for the onset of heart attack. By contrast, support for the conclusion that snus increases the risk of dying of heart attacks due to increased risk of heart rhythm disturbances.

- Both the increased cancer risk as the increased death risk associated with heart attacks may be judged to be of considerable adverse public health importance, given the large number of users, nearly 900 000 people, "says Gunnar Ågren. The report also provides support for a restrictive approach to snus use during pregnancy.

A diagnosis of cancer will most definitely have significant impact on the affected family's finances. Thoughtful evaluation of the family's financial resources will be necessary. Difficult, sometimes painful, adjustments may be required. I discuss this in my book Their Cancer - Your Journey, and share the following with you:

Once upon a time, not all that long ago, most people worked in secure jobs for many years. They had full sickness cover, and their wages would continue to be paid if they became ill. For many that situation no longer exists. When my mother became ill, her employment contract had just been renewed for a year. Her pay would have lasted only as long as that contract.

Sick pay generally goes down over time, rather than staying at the same level as previous earnings. Your loved one may also lose any part of their pay that was based on commission, performance or overtime. If the person with cancer contributed a major part of their household income, and this is affected, problems could arise.

The most important thing, of course, is to face up to facts as soon as they become clear. Plan ahead of time what you (or they, if you are not part of their household) can do to deal with the problem. It seems ironic that just as expenses are probably rising, their ability to cover those expenses is threatened.

It is possible that the person with cancer has some kind of insurance that covers this situation. They can dig it out and check the terms and conditions. Some policies cover illness, and others will pay out early if the person is not expected to live. You have to be practical if your finances are threatened, even if you don't like facing up to unpleasant facts.

Some help may be available from outside agencies. You could have a list of these already, or find them through your medical team. Contact them to see if help is available in your situation. The person with cancer may be able to claim some welfare benefits to help out. This is often a long process, so don't leave it until a financial crisis is upon you.

Some also choose to tap into equity they have built up in their home to tide them over this time. This could be done: through an equity release scheme; by moving to a cheaper property; or by using a 'Sell and Rent Back' company.

Be sure to check out the companies you deal with. Compare the end results carefully, and take financial advice if you need it in order to understand the full implications.

Cancer of the bone or bone cancer is a general term used when cancer cells are seen in the bone. Cancer that begins in the bone is called primary bone cancer. It is found most often in the arms and legs but it can occur in any bone in the body. Children and young people are more likely than adults to have bone cancers.

Primary bone cancers are called sarcomas. There are several different types of sarcoma and each type begins in a different kind of bone tissue. The most common sarcomas are osteosarcoma, Ewing's sarcoma, and chondrosarcoma.

In young people, the most common type of bone cancer is osteosarcoma, usually occurring between the ages of ten and twenty-five. More often, males are affected than females. Osteosarcoma frequently starts in the ends of the bones; where new bone tissue forms as a young person grows, usually affecting the long bones of the arms and legs. Ewing's sarcoma usually affects teenagers, and is mostly found in people between ten and twenty-five years old.

This cancer forms in the middle part (shaft) of large bones and most often affects the hip bones and long bones in the thigh and upper arm, but can also occur in the ribs. Chondrosarcoma is a type of tumor that forms in the cartilage (rubbery tissue around the joints) and are found mainly in adults. Other types of bone cancer include fibrosarcoma (malignant giant cell tumor) and chordoma. These are rare cancers and most often affects people over thirty.

The most common symptom of bone cancer is pain. However, symptoms may vary depending on the location and size of the cancer. Sometimes firm, slightly tender lump on the bone can be felt through the skin. Sometimes bone cancer interferes with normal movements and can also weaken or cause bones to break. Tumors that occur in or near joints may cause swelling and tenderness in the affected area. Other symptoms may include fatigue, fever, weight loss, and anemia. It is important to check with a doctor when you experience these symptoms, but these symptoms can also be caused by other less serious conditions.

Conventional treatment for some bone tumors may involve surgery, such as limb amputation. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy can be effective in some tumors (such as Ewing's sarcoma) but less so in others (such as chondrosarcoma). After treatment has been done for bone cancer, it is very important that regular follow-up or check-ups are done with your doctor, to be sure that cancer has not come back and treat it promptly if it does. Check-ups may be physical exam, x-rays, scans, blood tests, and other laboratory tests.

People who have been diagnosed of bone cancer may have many physical, emotional, practical worries. They may worry that removal of a limb or other surgery will affect not only how they look but how other people would feel about them. Patients can be helped to overcome all these through special support groups for youngsters with cancer and their families. The American Cancer Society, for example, is a nonprofit organization that has many services for patients and their families.

All types of cancer are traumatic for everyone involved. The keyword is prevention. There are natural supplements that work. Unfortunately we don't hear much about these supplements unless we investigate and search them out. Most of them fall under the conflicted interest of quack watchers because if it isn't manufactured by the drug companies, it can't possibly work. If a man in your life is at risk for developing prostate cancer symptoms, here’s some information you might want to pass along. While a connection between eating meat and enjoying high fat dairy products and cancer of the prostate has been suspected for a while, recent research by a team at Oxford University has been able to confirm the link..

Experts know that a diet rich in meat and high fat dairy products is likely to raise levels of a hormone called Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1 for short) that has been shown to promote cell growth. In fact, cells fed IGF-1 grow much more quickly, and may be part of the reason scientists worry it will aid the spread of tumors.

The work, conducted by researchers at the University of Oxford, reviewed the results of a dozen blood sample studies that included almost 9.000 men. By looking closely at this data, the researchers were able to more clearly identify the link between IGF-1 and this form of cancer. The team found that men with high levels of IGF-1 were 40% more likely to have prostate cancer than those with lower levels.

According lead researcher Dr. Andrew Roddam, "What we found was a modest association at best, but it was statistically significant. A lot of the individual studies found the same trend but were too underpowered for their results to be reliable."

And while no one can say how much diet effects levels of IGF-1 in the body, Dr. Roddam, a Cancer Research UK epidemiologist at Oxford University, estimates it could be up to 15% higher for anyone who eats lots of dairy and meat. Previous studies have reported that IGF-1 levels are higher in those who eat a lot of meat, milk, butter and cheese.

But why are these delicious foods so bad?

First because they seem to be a large source of saturated fats and are an all too familiar part of most modern diets. These types of fats do damage to the body that we’re only just beginning to understand. What’s more, few people eat enough of the natural, good for you fruits and vegetables that are sources of antioxidants and other nutrients a body needs to stay healthy and strong. Add in our lack of physical activity and you can see why we’re headed for trouble.

Interestingly, the risk of prostate cancer is lower among men who are vegetarians as well as in populations that eat more rice, soybeans and vegetables.

Each year, prostate cancer claims nearly 30,000 lives in the US, and another 10,000 in the UK. To find out if the man in your life is at risk, take a look at factors identified by the American Cancer Society:

- Risks of prostate cancer increase as you age, especially after 50.

- Your risk of prostate cancer doubles if you have a father or brother with the disease.

- Prostate cancer is more common in African American men, and these patients are typically diagnosed at a later stage than other men.

- Prostate cancer is most common in North America, northwestern Europe, Australia and the Caribbean islands; it’s less common in Asia, Africa, Central and South America.

- Obese men are at an increased risk of developing this form of cancer, as well as many other diseases.

Research continues and treatment options for prostate cancer symptoms are improving all the time. If you or someone you love is at risk, or has just been diagnosed, don’t panic but do learn all you can about this disease and ways to stay well. One of the first steps may simply to substitute that burger with a piece of fruit or vegetables instead.

New research may link one of the species of bacteria that live in our digestive system to the development of colon cancer symptoms. Home to many species, some “good” and others “bad”, our digestive system provides these microbes a place to live, and in return they help with digestion and training the body’s immune system. In susceptible people, this otherwise harmless organism causes DNA changes that can be a precursor to cancer.

The organism, known to scientists as enterococcus faecalis, (or E. faecalis for short) lives quietly in the digestive system of most of us, and it’s true that not everyone develops colon cancer. For reasons scientists have yet to understand, in some people the organism produces an oxygen molecule known as superoxide that cause changes in DNA and prompt some of the gene action tied to cancer.

The research, conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Oklahoma City, looked at how colon cells reacted in the lab to the bacteria in the “fermentation” state. All in all, 42 genes linked to key processes in body cells were altered by the presence of E. faecalis.

"We found that superoxide led to strong signaling in immune cells called macrophages — it also altered the way some cells in the gut grew and divided and even increased the productivity of genes which are associated with cancer." says professor Mark Huycke, the lead researcher.

Experts in the UK also agree that bacteria may be likely culprits in cancers of the colon. Dr. Barry Campbell of the University of Liverpool agrees that E. faecalis could be involved, but he also believes that there are other bacteria in the bowel that play a part in the cell changes that eventually bring on tumors. He insists, "There is not going to be only one culprit. Our own team is interested in a particular type of E. coli with this in mind. There are also many other factors which are involved, such as genetics and environment."

And while the experts figure out what may be the root of the problem, there are things that you can do, right now, to reduce your risk. Living a healthy lifestyle where you eat right, exercise, don’t smoke or drink to excess are important first steps. Keeping your weight under control will not only reduce your colon cancer risk, it will have you looking better and feeling better too.

You’ll also want to learn all you can about colon cancer if you have a close family member like a parent or sibling with this disease. If you are at increased risk, your doctor will likely advise you to have colon screening tests before the usual age of 50. Don’t put these off, and report promptly any change in your bowel habits to your doctor. Waiting in fear does you no good… and may rob you of your chance to fight your disease.

You’ll also want to limit your exposure to toxins and radiation. While it takes a lot of radiation to get to a level that might cause cancer, you want to have tests you need but try to avoid exposure to unnecessary radiation.

Each year colon cancer claims nearly 50,000 lives, with over 100,000 patients newly diagnosed with colon cancer symptoms. Treatments include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, immunotherapy and vaccine therapy. Clinical trials are also ongoing and yielding promising new leads all the time.

Since the 1960's, chemotherapy has been the primary treatment for cancer in the United States - despite questionable benefits and the terrible suffering it causes patients who are already experiencing a major health challenge. But would you believe that the only real reason chemotherapy is still around is because consumers are simply conditioned to blindly follow authority without asking their own questions. Furthermore, the undue fear that has been associated with cancer immediately puts most people into a state of shock - in which they will acquiesce to anyone who offers to help them. Well, here are 5-things you should consider before simply going along with convention and subjecting yourself to a treatment most doctors wouldn't even use:

1. By medical standards, chemotherapy is not really that effective. It is estimated that about half of all cancer patients get chemotherapy despite the fact it only appears to be helping about 5% of those people. In some placebo trials with various kinds of cancer, placebos (essentially sugar pills) are effective far more than 5% of the time; leading one to believe that it may be better to take a sugar pill, or just do nothing at all, rather than endure the misery that is chemotherapy.

2. Chemotherapy is a poison that kills healthy cells along with cancer cells. Chemotherapy weakens every part of your body - including the immune system - leaving the body to fight cancer and the effects of poisoning in a weakened state, and leaving the body vulnerable to secondary infections. Chemotherapy is also believed to cause rapid spread of cancer in a large number of cases - perhaps because of its weakening effect on the immune system.

3. In a recent survey, 81% of the oncologists asked said that they would not submit themselves, or their family members, to chemotherapy due to its low success rates coupled with its unpredictable risks and unmanageable side-effects - not to mention the extreme suffering caused by the poisons used. Studies suggest that chemotherapy provides no significant benefit over doing nothing at all - and that chemotherapy toxins may actually make conditions much worse for the patient.

4. Alternative cancer cures are abundant, affordable, and available; though, due to aggressive practice protection laws, the American Medical Association (AMA) is diligent about persecuting and prosecuting anyone who claims to be able to cure cancer without a prescription. Though cancer is a catch-all phrase for over a hundred different disease presentations, the AMA still defends a catch-all therapeutic approach that has never been effective. Seek out alternatives before making a decision on how to treat cancer. You can only make an informed decision if you have information on the subject. We have all been programmed to think and believe that if we get cancer we should go to the doctor and let him do whatever he wants so we don't die. Cancer is survivable; and modern medical approaches are not necessarily the most effective approaches to treating cancer patients. Many alternative approaches to the treatment of cancer have much higher success rates than any approach offered by pharmaceutical companies.

5. No matter what form of treatment you use to address illness, it has always been the body that does the healing - specifically, the immune system. Even if you choose to use chemotherapy, you need to do whatever you can to support your immune system naturally through and after the process. Chemotherapy can't heal you; it can only destroy cells. If your immune system is destroyed in the process, you simply won't heal. Explore alternative health approaches for safe, non-invasive methods of strengthening the body and immune system - if not to cure the cancer, than at least to survive the chemotherapy.

The bottom line is that you alone are responsible for your health; and, if you have a serious, or life-threatening, condition, you need to seriously consider what you want to do about it. Don't let fear decide for you. Fear kills; and it often does so by using stress to limit your mental access to creative solutions to your problems. Not everyone who gets cancer dies from it; but everyone dies. Calm down, breathe, and rationally consider the vast array of alternative approaches available to you. Make your decision knowing that it is the right one, and that you are doing it for the purpose of restoring health and order to your body, mind, and life. What one can do, others can do. Others before you have survived cancer - with and without doctors and medicine. You can too!

Male Breast Cancer Symptoms

Though most lumps or changes in the breast for men are benign (not cancerous) abnormalities, men should still report any major changes, irritations or problems to their doctors as soon as possible.

The most common symptoms of breast cancer in men are actually quite similar to the symptoms for women. These include nipple inversion, detecting a lump, unexplained tissue growth, change in breast size, skin puckering or dimpling, nipple discharge, itchiness or redness.

Men generally have less breast tissue than women, making it much easier to detect lumps. However, this also means the cancer can spread to other parts of the body more quickly than in women. This is why early detection is so critical for men.

Contributing Factors for Men's Breast Cancer

Elder Age

Most men diagnosed with male breast cancer are between the ages of 60 and 70.

Family History

Approximately 20 percent of men with breast cancer have one or more close family members who have or have had the disease.

Prior Radiation Exposure

Radiation exposure to the chest (for example, past treatment for lung cancer) can be a risk factor for the development of male breast cancer.

History of Liver Diseases

The liver works to regulate hormones, meaning men who have survived liver failure or liver disease often have lower levels of androgens, the male hormones. Those low levels can put them at a higher risk for developing breast cancer or non-cancerous tissue growth.

Estrogen Therapy

Often men who are being treated for prostate cancer are put on estrogen treatments to help control the disease. These men may be at a higher risk for developing breast cancer. That said, the American Cancer Society says those risks are small and worth the benefits of improved health for prostate cancer patients.

Klinefelter's

Typically, men are born with one Y chromosome and one X chromosome. Klinefelter's Syndrome is when a man is born with two or more X chromosomes (female chromosomes). Approximately 1 in 850 men were born with Klinefelter's.

Men with this syndrome generally have lower levels of androgens and higher levels of estrogen and are therefore at a greater risk for developing male breast cancer.

How Breast Cancer in Men is Treated

Methods for treating men's breast cancer include surgical removal of the tumor and any cancerous cells, chemo, radiation therapy, hormone therapy or a combination of all these treatments.

The survival rates for men with breast cancer often depend on the stage of the disease but range from 96% for stage I diagnosis to 24% for a stage IV diagnosis.

Men experiencing symptoms of breast cancer may be inhibited through embarrassment from requesting the assessment of a qualified physician. But given the severity of any type of cancer, the potential risk merits an extra effort to swallow one's pride and make sure.

Penile cancer can become a life-threatening situation. It can affect every man's sexuality to non-imaginable levels. Your post treatment state is directly dependent on the level of cancer in your body before it was diagnosed. As the tumor becomes more advanced the treatment also becomes more debilitating. Penile cancer is not directly contagious but the HPV found in cervical and penile cancers indicates that people should use protection during sexual intercourse to avoid contracting this sexually transmitted disease. This is because if a person has penile cancer, then he has the HPV therefore unprotected sex is a great health threat.

No-lump breast cancer is invasive and highly aggressive form of cancer. Good news, though it is rare.

Inflammatory Breast Cancer does not produce a lump so it can go unnoticed; in fact, it can pass simply as inflammation of the breast, which the doctor may initially prescribe antibiotics for. However, unlike ordinary breast infection that also causes swelling of the breast, Inflammatory Breast Cancer will not respond favorably to antibiotics. It is a form of breast cancer that spreads rapidly; unless detected earlier, survival is very slim.

There are a number of things we can do to enable us to live a long healthy life that is full of energy and without disease. There are some basics that range from what we put in our bodies, how active or sedentary our lifestyle is, and how are thought life is managed in regard to stress, worry, outlook,etc.

What I want to target is cancer and it's prime cause. There are a lot of various types of "cancer awareness", which is a good thing, with monies being raised for more and more research to stop this disease. What we need to look at is not letting cancer get a foothold to begin with. And it starts with oxygen.

Without a dependable supply of oxygen, the cells in our bodies cannot function properly. Nutrients in our diets must have oxygen present to convert their potential energy into usable energy. In order for new cells to be formed, hundreds of amino acids must link together using oxygen as the source of their energy.

The prime cause of cancer is the replacement of the respiration of oxygen in normal body cells by a fermentation of sugar. All normal body cells meet their energy needs by respiration of oxygen, whereas cancer cells meet their energy needs in great part by fermentation.

Poor oxygenation comes from a buildup of carcinogens and other toxins within and around cells, which blocks and then damages the cellular oxygen respiration mechanism. Clumping up of red blood cells slows down the bloodstream, and restricts flow into capillaries. This also causes poor oxygenation. Even lack of the proper building blocks for cell walls, essential fatty acids, restricts oxygen exchange.

There are some factors that rob us of oxygen on a daily basis. Toxicity, emotional stress, physical trauma and infections, reduction of atmospheric oxygen, improper diets and lack of exercise. Some of these factors we can control and some we cannot. For instance, scientific analysis reveals that the oxygen content of the air appears to be declining in our atmosphere, especially in larger cities.

It is not a surprise then that we see concurrent increases in human illness and disease. Is this chance, or a direct correlation to the decreased levels of oxygen. I go with the latter and is something not to take lightly.

Biochemist Dr. Otto Warburg, who awarded the Nobel prize regarding his cancer research, was convinced that cancer cells can only begin to proliferate in the human body when the cells become oxygen deficient and that cancer cells cannot proliferate at all when exposed to an oxygen-rich environment.
Recent research just confirms this, that indeed, lack of oxygen in cells and tissue is the underlying root cause of not just cancer but, quite possibly, of all chronic degenerative disease.

Cancer cells produce excess lactic acid as they ferment energy. Lactic acid is toxic, and tends to prevent the transport of oxygen into neighboring normal cells. Over time as these cells replicate, the cancer may spread if not destroyed by the immune system.

Chemotherapy and radiation are used because cancer cells are weaker than normal cells and therefore may die first. However, chemo and radiation damage respiratory enzymes in healthy cells, and overload them with toxins, so they become more likely to develop into cancer. The underlying cancer causing conditions are worsened, not improved. And the cancer usually returns quickly a second time unless you make changes to support the health of your body.

The implication of this research is that an effective way to support the body's fight against cancer would be to get as much oxygen as you can into healthy cells, and improving their ability to utilize oxygen. Raising the oxygen levels of normal cells would help prevent them from becoming cancerous. And increasing oxygen levels in cancer cells to high levels could help kill those cancer cells.

Medical researchers when working with cell cultures in a lab, if they want the cells to mutate, they turn down the oxygen. To stop the mutation, the oxygen is turned back up. One type of white blood cells kills cancer cells by injecting oxygen creating hydrogen peroxide into the cells.

Cancer is the number two cause of death in the United States,
preceded only by heart disease. According to the American Cancer Society, more than 559,000 U.S. Americans will die from cancer this year. That's about 1,500 people a day!

Excluding non-invasive and bladder cancer, about 1.45 million new cancer cases are expected during 2008.

So how is it that any of us gets cancer in the first place? Is it exposure to cigarette smoking, intense sunlight or perhaps the effect of toxic food additives? Dr. Krebs thinks not. All of the hard, biochemical evidence points to the fact that cancer is a simple deficiency disease of vitamin B17, long ago removed from our highly-refined, western diets. Krebs postulates that the so-called 'carcinogens' are merely stress triggers that finally expose the B17 deficiency with devastating effect.

In 1974, author and political commentator, Edward G. Griffin, published World Without Cancer, summarizing and analyzing Dr. Krebs' finding. Krebs and other holistic such as Dr. Thomas A. Doorman, insist that there is no cure for cancer, but that natural sources such as vitamin B-17 help rid the body of cancer.

The American Cancer Society, the American Medical Association and the FDA call this a "quackery" or a scheme to make money. They say that their tests prove vitamin b-17, also known as Laetrile, is not effective for treating cancer.

According to Griffin, the 1953 California Report continues to be the basis of most scientific or legal opposition to vitamin B-17 today. The report, written by Dr. Henry Garland and Dr. E. M. McDonald of the California Medical Association's Cancer Advisory Commission, claims there is no proof Laetrile is an effective control for cancer.

However, Griffin writes in World Without Cancer that Garland and McDonald actually falsified information from Laetrile experiments cited in the California Report. In fact, 10 years after the report was published, original documents surfaced that proved information had been falsified. Although the report was subsequently updated, additional problems – such as insufficient vitamin dosages used in the experiments – persisted, and the conclusions of the original California Report remained embedded in the literature and minds of many.

During the same time of the experiments on Laetrile, Garland and McDonald said that there wasn't a connection between lung cancer and cigarette smoking.

Griffin says that studies conducted by groups such as the Sloane-Kettering Institute prove Laetrile is effective, but that they have not been published. Griffin says that the studies were suppressed from "top" directors.

Why would the American Cancer Society and government regulatory agencies suppress the possible wonder of Laetrile?

Mr. Griffin states,"They do that because they're trying to make a buck, and something that is found in nature, like Laetrile, cannot be patented."

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a 1 percent drop in the cancer death rate would eliminate about $500 billion from U.S. economy over the next hundred years.

Concentrated forms of Laetrile are sold, but Dr. Krebs suggested consuming it naturally. Apricot kernels are potent in vitamin B-17.

Although holistic treatments for cancer vary, they are less costly than traditional methods such as radiation and chemotherapy.

Survival rate estimate for orthodox treatments for advanced cancer is 1/10 of 1 percent while that of holistic approaches is 15 percent.

No matter how useless or harmful common practices may be, consensus medicine demands that they be used by every physician...if a doctor deviates from this pattern and dares to apply nutrition as the basis of his treatment, even he if attains a high degree of success, he is condemned as a quack.

Nature provides an abundance of B17 to keep us healthy. Unfortunately, she puts it in foods that today we've been conditioned into throwing away or avoiding. It seems man has ignored common sense advice going back to ancient times in favor of all the "treats and nutrition" modern manufacturing can provide. Forget the fruit and vegetables. Let's have chips and cola. Sound familiar parents? Our bodies start the road to nutritional imbalance at a young age without us even realizing. We need to learn to think before we eat!

Breast Cancer Survival is Possible, It’s Up To You.

Each year, approximately 200,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer, and one in nine American women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Even though death rates have been dropping steadily since 1990, about 40,910 breast cancer deaths were expected in 2007.

Even though the numbers can be overwhelming, there are many who have survived this ordeal, and lived to tell their story of struggle and survival. Early detection and cancer treatment in the beginning stages of the disease is essential. Most women when diagnosed feel that their life has come to a screeching halt. In one doctors visit she is now a cancer patient, and her world has been totally destroyed with no means of hope. In reality cancer doesn’t always mean the end of life, but it can mean the start of a new life, with substantial adjustments along the way.



One of the main adjustments that have to be made has nothing to do with medicines or treatments that will be given. The biggest battle that has to be faced is the battle field of the mind. Depending on different circumstances and stages of cancer, you can have a long and productive life. In some cases cancer free, so be positive! Say to your self "I can survive cancer" don’t under estimate being optimistic; don’t decide to give up before you even start. The key to this personal battle is breast cancer awareness. Remember the old saying ignorance is bliss? Ignorance in this case can be depressing, dangerous and fatal.

When I speak of those who are survivors it’s not just the patient themselves. A survivor can also be family members who have loss someone special to cancer. I can speak from personal experience; my mother lost her battle with cancer on Sept. 10, 2008.

I can’t not describe the pain, sorrow, and deep anguish my family and I felt when she passed away. I will always know that she would want all of us to continue with our lives, and encourage others to do the same. So by writing this article I guess I am following my mother’s advice.

My mother was not aware of the symptoms of breast cancer, and if she had received cancer treatments earlier, things could have been different. Well as you know hind sight is always 20/20, and we can not change the pass. You can however protect your future by breast cancer prevention; don't put off tomorrow what you can do today. Take time out of your busy schedule, see your doctor get examined, and have peace of mind. Life is a special and precious gift we have all received, don't take it for granted, do all you can to preserve it.

Some of the other possible side effects resulting from radiation therapy may include discomfort or pressure in the excretory region, burning sensation during urination, fatigue, skin irritation, abdominal cramping, frequent bowel movements and nausea. However, these side effects are temporary, as they tend to resolve after the termination of radiation therapy for colorectal cancer.

Measures for Controlling Side Effects of Radiation Therapy

Although these side effects vary with different patients, they can be controlled by using different medications and inflicting changes in your diet. Try to give plenty of rest to your body during this treatment, as you are more likely to get fatigue and feel tired. Do not wear tight clothes and avoid scrubbing, rubbing and putting adhesive tapes on the skin where treatment is done.

Take special care to protect your treated skin from direct sunlight. Since your skin becomes very sensitive during this time, cover it with a dark cloth if possible before going out.

The reason alternative cancer treatments are not more widely known has little to do with their alleged therapeutic ineffectiveness and far more to do with political control and the therapy marketplace.

Many of the treatments are on the "unproven methods of cancer management" list maintained by the American Cancer Society which is, effectively, a "blacklist".

Medical doctors will know little if anything at all about alternative cancer treatments for a number of reasons.

Medical schools don't teach alternative treatments and medical journals rarely contain articles about alternative treatments. Medical journals are published for the allopathic establishment, and they are mostly financed by advertisements from pharmaceutical companies. Doctors receive a lot of negative information about alternative treatments from the American Medical Association (AMA) and the pharmaceutical industry.

Internet ‘Quackwatches' and so forth decry alternative therapies even when there is contradictory evidence to their effectiveness plus their state medical boards may fine them heavily, suspend their license to practice or even revoke it.

The federal government can close them down and confiscate their property and they may lose their right to see patients in hospitals not to mention other doctors/peers openly ridicule and crticize them. It is no wonder your doctor won’t know or tell you about alternative cancer treatments, because they could literally lose everything they have and worked for their whole lives.

There are many alternative treatments for cancer that will not provide Big Pharma a single penny of revenue, much less profits. This means these same treatments will not provide the media with a single penny of revenue. Guess which treatments the media pushes?

There is a war going on in medicine today; a war between orthodox medicine and alternative medicine. The war is being fought with money and information. The war is to control what you know, and don't know, about cancer treatments. When a new discovery is made, it comes down to the profitablity. If there is no profit, the treatment is buried.

Find a natural substance that cures something, bury this fact, then fabricate, synthesize, and mutate the key natural substance, then patent the mutation, and make huge profits.

That is why there is "no scientific evidence" for alternative treatments, no one is looking, because they cannot be patented and thus are not profitable enough. The reason there is no official "scientific evidence" for alternative cancer treatments and cancer prevention treatments is that they are not highly profitable to Big Pharma. It is impossible, by law, for a substance to be considered to have “scientific evidence” unless Big Pharma submits it to the FDA, and they will only submit things that are very, very profitable to them.

To the cancer establishment, a cancer patient is a profit center. The actual clinical and scientific evidence does not support the claims of the cancer industry. Conventional cancer treatments are in place as the law of the land because they pay, not heal, the best. Decades of the politics-of-cancer-as-usual have kept you from knowing this, and will continue to do so unless we wake up to their reality.

However there are certain things that they can do which can help them to cope with their problem more effectively.

1. When they can eat they should make sure that their meals and snacks contain good levels of calories and protein within them. Along with helping to keep the person's strength up these can help to prevent body tissue from breaking down more. Also they will help to rebuild any tissue in the body that may have been damaged whilst the treatment is taking place.

2. Many people who suffer from eating problems when undergoing cancer treatment tend to find that they have more of an appetite in the morning. So people like this should try and eat more at this time of the day.
