Mesothelioma is a cancer affiliated with asbestos inhalation. The asbestos fibers get stuck in membranes which encircle essential organs of our bodies. Generally there are 3 forms of Mesothelioma cancer: The most common is called Pleural Mesothelioma which attacks the pleura or inner lining of the lung area. The particular asbestos fibers taken in create scars producing damage to the cells located in the inner lining. Symptoms usually tend to be a lack of breath, pains in the chest along with retention of fluid in the lung area.
The next form is called Peritoneal Mesothelioma which damages the cells located within the inner lining of the stomach. Signs or symptoms include pain inside the abdomen, constipation as well as feelings of sickness. Instances of this nature tend to be exceptional. The 3rd but very exceptional form is known as Pericardial Mesothelioma which usually affects the lining encircling the heart. The signs and symptoms experienced by patients include pains inside the chest, palpitations along with a minor cough. Although presently there is still no cure, there are treatments offered to help ease pain and extend a patients life. Medical procedures, chemotherapy together with radiation have all been used to fight and cut down the spread of cancerous cells. Early diagnosis usually helps a sufferer's response to treatment. The Butman system is a process applied in order to identify several phases involving a tumour brought about by mesothelioma. The initial phase indicates a presence within either the right or left area of the pleura, pericardium or diaphragm. The following period is where the tumour has extended to both sides, the oesophagus, heart, chest wall or lymph nodes. The 3rd phase is where the actual cancer has extended from the diaphragm into the peritoneum or abdominal cavity lining and is known as the serious assaulting level. Step 4 signifies the actual tumour has passed to the other bodily organs via the bloodstream. CAT scans, MRI testing along with X-rays are used to determine what step a patient has arrived at.

This specific important information is vital in determining the kind of procedure that ought to be selected. When the effects regarding work using asbestos had been accepted, countless numbers of people sued for damages. Certain businesses were found guilty of concealing health related information from their own employees and were well aware of the potential hazards. As a result, the legal courts upheld the claims and bankrupted the vast majority of businesses in this particular field, predominantly mining and building companies. Any exposure to asbestos fibers can certainly be dangerous. Families associated with employees were also prone to asbestos related health problems as these types of fibers were generally carried home on clothing and also hair. Cleaning the clothing was extremely dangerous.

Presently there are more than 3000 people diagnosed with mesothelioma each yr in the U.S.A. This number is a lot larger globally. Asbestos is nevertheless being utilized in some other countries, probably subjecting 100s of 1000s of families to a cruel death. We can just pray that they uncover a cure soon.

Racial Disparities Found Among Lung Cancer Patients

Researchers have found that disparities may exist between the survival of lung cancer patients between various races, particularly among African Americans who are at a greater risk of fatality following a lung cancer diagnosis compared to those of other races, according to a report from the University of Washington, Seattle researchers.

The study used informational data from 17,739 patients that were of the average age of 75 years old. The data was collected during the time period of 1992 to 2002. Of the patients, approximately 89 percent were of the Caucasian race while only 6 percent were African Americans. According to the research, "black patients recommended to surgery had lung resections less frequently than white patients."

The report found that as long as African American patients received "recommended appropriate treatment" the disparities shrank considerably, however, that has not been the case thus far, according to a Science Daily news article. Researchers are unsure as to why the disparity is occurring particularly among African Americans compared to their Caucasian counterparts, but explored the following reasons as potential differences:

* patients may be less inclined to undergo surgery
* patients may be have limited access to appropriate care
* patients may be less likely to visit the physician

However, if these patients had received a proper adjustment or treatment, then "no significant association between race and death" would have occurred, according to the news article.

Lung Cancer Causes

While the Oncology Channel notes that tobacco smoke is responsible for "80 percent of lung cancer deaths in men and 75 percent of lung cancer deaths in women," there are a significant number of other risk factors that can lead to an individual's diagnosis of lung cancer. The following are several risk factors including:

# secondhand smoke
# asbestos
# radon
# occupational exposures
# age
# race
# sex
# hereditary

It is imperative that in order for a lung cancer patient to receive the best appropriate method of treatment that he/she contact a medical professional at the first signs and symptoms of their potential condition. The Mayo Clinic reported the following as several signs and symptoms common among lung cancer patients:

* hoarseness
* wheezing
* chest pain
* coughing up blood
* development of chronic cough, also smoker's cough
* new cough that does not go away

Defining Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a deadly form of lung cancer that is caused after the inhalation of asbestos fibers and dust particles has occurred. Individuals who are at the most risk for developing mesothelioma cancer are those working predominately in a construction industry or similar type of field such as the following, according to New Zealand's National Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Committee:

* asbestos workers
* auto mechanics
* miners
* millers
* machinery fitters
* boilermakers
* firemen
* waterside workers
* railway workers
* construction workers

Individuals who have worked in any of the above fields or a similar work environment are advised to seek medical attention if any of the above signs and symptoms develop. Additionally, it is important that an individuals suffering from mesothelioma cancer contact an environmental toxin attorney to learn about developing a mesothelioma lawsuit.

It is often necessary to create such litigation as a mesothelioma diagnosis is frequently delivered with expensive treatment options and a short life expectancy. By creating a mesothelioma lawsuit an individual is increasing their chance of receiving monetary compensation as an award for their debilitating condition.

Active Symptom Control for Mesothelioma Studied in Chemotherapy Treatment

According to a recent issue of the British medical journal, The Lancet, researchers have been studying the effect of chemotherapy on mesothelioma. Since chemotherapy is not considered a successful treatment for mesothelioma cancer, but rather a treatment for mesothelioma signs and symptoms medical professionals continue to debate the usefulness of the procedure on controlling symptoms.

Researchers studied 409 patients all of which were suffering from malignant pleural mesothelioma in different parts of the world. The patients were randomly assigned an active symptom control treatment or a treatment that included an active control treatment with one of two chemotherapy medications. According to the study, "the active symptom control treatments included steroids, bronchodilators, analgesic medications and palliative radiotherapy."

Following the study, the patients with both treatment options were compared and, according to researchers, "the addition of chemotherapy to active symptom control presented no significant benefit or advances in survival or quality of life" among mesothelioma victims.

What are Mesothelioma, Chemotherapy?

Mesothelioma is a disease in which malignant cancer cells develop in a thin layer of tissue that lines the chest cavity covering the lungs, which is also known as the pleura, or the peritoneum, which is the tissue lining the abdomen and most of the organs, according to the National Cancer Institute (NCI).

According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), chemotherapy is a treatment method that uses chemicals commonly administered via a catheter, pill, injection, or port, which is usually a round, metal or plastic disc, that is provided when abnormal cancerous cells begin to develop and rapidly divide uncontrollably. Chemotherapy is given for a variety of reasons but it is given based on certain factors such as the stage of a cancer, the health of a patient and the age of a patient. For mesothelioma patients, chemotherapy is not a curative method of treatment, but is actually administered to mesothelioma patients for several reasons including the following:

* stop growth and spreading of a cancer, to control the cancer
* minimize or shrink tumors - this method is also known as neoadjuvantchemotherapy
* palliative chemotherapy in which pain and other symptoms are meant to be reduced
* the destruction of microscopic disease that remains after a surgical procedure, also known as adjuvant chemotherapy

Chemotherapy is administered either as a catheter placed into a large vein in the body or a catheter attached as a port that is placed into the chest area under the skin for a period of time.

Living With Mesothelioma

Unfortunately, victims of mesothelioma continue to receive setbacks for their life-threatening condition, as there are currently no successful treatments for the deadly cancer. However, an individual has the opportunity to participate in an array of clinical trial treatment groups as well as the opportunity to develop a mesothelioma lawsuit to derive monetary compensation as a means of repayment for the condition, which is often associated with extremely expensive medical bills.

Speaking with a qualified medical attorney who can offer a free legal consultation as to the creation of mesothelioma litigation can offer a mesothelioma victim peace of mind and insight into overcoming the financial burden of their condition.

Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that can be malignant or benign, the malignant type is very dangerous type and may be deadly in most cases. Scientists can classify the types of mesothelioma cancer according to the place of the tumors as following.

Pleural type, in this type the tumors will be developed in Pleura. The Pleura is the most outer membrane surrounds the lungs and has protections functions. Pleural type is the most famous type and the most cases are diagnosed as Pleural mesothelioma.

Peritoneal type, in this case the tumors will be developed in the Peritoneum. The Peritoneum is the outer membrane that surrounds the internal organs of the abdomen and has protection and movement functions. It is less common type but it is more dangerous that the Pleural type.

Pericardial type, in this case the tumors will be developed in the Pericardium. The pericardium is the outer sac that includes the heart and its great arteries. Pericardium is a protective systems for our hearts and the mesothelioma cancer in that systems is very deadly.

The treatment options of mesothelioma could be one of these options. the first options is the surgery when the doctor has decided to remove the tumor and the tissues surround it. The surgery will be effective options especially when they use the second option with it, I'm talking about the chemotherapy option which will be very good assistant treatment.

The third option is the radiotherapy, doctors will use some radiations to kill the remaining cancer cells after the surgery. Doctors can use the all three option to make a strong treatment for the mesothelioma.

There are various types of mesothelioma but asbestos lung mesothelioma is an asbestos-induced cancer of the mesothelium of the lung, more familiarly known as the pleura, which is the external lining of the lung.

Many of the major organs of the body have a mesothelium, that of the heart being called the pericardium and of the heart the peritoneum. However, it is with the pleura that we are concerned here, and the symptoms of asbestos lung mesothelioma are what you would expect: coughing, discomfort in the chest cavity and eventual pain.

Before we come to possible treatments and palliative care, let’s have a look at what causes it and why we are still seeing new cases today after asbestos was banned for construction use in the 1970s.

Asbestos comes in several forms, the most dangerous thought to be crocidolite, commonly known as blue asbestos. This form of asbestos is in a highly fibrous form, and it is the inhalation and ingestion of these fibers that cause the problem. They tend to remain in the body for a considerable period of time and it can take up to 40 – 45 years before the symptoms of mesothelioma begin to appear, though some people contract it in their 30s.

To complicate the situation, it is not only asbestos that causes the symptoms, but any fibrous silicate, which it is why some compensation cases are not as cut and dry as they could be. To add to this complication, smoking adds to the possibility of cancer and it is argued that many patients would not have contracted mesothelioma had they not smoked.

This is not only an argument made by solicitors in court, but has been established by statistics. It is pretty certain that smokers have a greater tendency of contracting asbestos lung mesothelioma than non-smokers, since attorneys for the employers have used this as a reason for having the otherwise high compensation significantly reduced.

There is a popular misconception that mesothelioma is caused by asbestos, but it is just a misconception. Lung cancer is mesothelioma, and in the USA 80% of mesothelioma cases are caused by smoking. That is an indisputable fact. In order to prove the intervention of asbestos in a case, therefore, not only would the patients have to prove that they had worked with asbestos, but also not to have smoked. Had they smoked, then the award could be greatly reduced.

The term “asbestos lung mesothelioma” is therefore a correct one because that form of the disease to which we are referring is caused by asbestos, and not smoking, is of the pleura of the lung and not of the pericardium or peritoneum, and is mesothelioma.

Its treatment is largely palliative, or intended to ease suffering, because the prognosis is fairly grim. Only about 20% of cases live to 5 years after diagnosis, with most surviving only one year, though much depends on how far the condition had developed by the time it was diagnosed. Chemotherapy and radiation treatment are used, but not successfully, and various degrees of surgery are also used. Removal of the affected lung, pericardium and half the diaphragm is the most major of these, and even that only extends life to a maximum of around five years from diagnosis.

There are new treatments being tested, but all treatment is expensive, and a good attorney is likely necessary to secure the compensation to pay for these. Ultimately hospice care will be required and again compensation money should be kept back for this. Ultimately, in spite of all the treatment given, it is palliative care that will make the last days of the patient bearable, as will the help and support of the family, and this is what compensation can fund.

More information on this disease can be obtained from Pete’s webpage Asbestos Lung Mesothelioma where more detail is given of possible treatment.

We've all, by now, heard the risks of inhaling asbestos fibers in factories, in houses, in schools, etc. What many people don't realize is that there is an equally large risk of second-hand exposure. Just like second-hand smoke hurts people, second-hand exposure to asbestos also hurts people.

When people say "second-hand exposure" they mean that the person that has been exposed to asbestos is not coming in direct contact with it at its source. The family of a miner that works in a taconite or asbestos mine would experience second-hand exposure if they came in contact with asbestos in their home rather than in the place where the material that contains asbestos is. It is similar to second-hand smoke in that there does not need to be direct contact with the cigarette (or insulation in this case) to experience some harmful affects of the item.

It is important to keep in mind, when dealing with asbestos, that the deadly fibers are inhaled into the lungs via other dust floating in the air. Just like when dusting, clothes can take in asbestos dust just like normal dust. This tendency of fibers to be trapped in the clothes of people means that whoever does the laundry is taking a serious risk. It gives a new adage to "Would it kill you to do the laundry?"

If the clothes to be laundered contain dust that has been exposed to asbestos, yes, it can actually kill you to do the laundry. The act of doing laundry involves picking up clothes from a laundry basket or hamper or something. When the clothes are picked up, there is air movement. This air movement stirs the dust particles to life and sends them floating through the air. When they are airborne, it is quite easy for someone to inhale that dust, just like any other dust. When one does the laundry for a husband or father's entire career in an asbestos mine, the asbestos fibers add up and accumulate in the lungs.

There does not need to be a lot of accumulation of fibers for Mesothelioma, the deadly lung cancer most commonly associated with asbestos, to develop. Lately, there have been numerous stories in the papers and across the internet about a dutiful wife doing her husband's laundry weekly and contracting Mesothelioma because of that. There have also been stories of children in large families contracting the disease after having been stuck with the chore of laundry while growing up. One of these instances resulted in the foundation of Kati's Hope Foundation for Mesothelioma.

Now, companies are requiring that their workers change out of their street clothes before starting work for the day. This requirement is designed to cut down on the amount of asbestos being taken home from the work place. Despite this new requirement, millions of people have still done a lot of laundry and given a lot of hugs over the years.

Asbestos and lung cancer, yes it is true that asbestos is a major reason for the cause of this deadly disease. Before we analyze the interrelationship between asbestos and lung cancer it is necessary to understand what is asbestos and what are its health implications.

What is Asbestos?

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral in the form of bundled fibers. Asbestos fibers are heat and chemical resistant and are poor conductor of electricity. These qualities make it fit for commercial use. Industries use four types of Asbestos: Chrysolite or white asbestos, Crocidolite or blue asbestos, Anthophyllite or gray colored fibers and Amosite or brown colored fibers. These asbestos fibers break into tiny dust particles and thus easily inhaled or swallowed which can cause serious health disorders. Lung cancer caused from asbestos is one such example.

Health Hazards of Asbestos

Regular exposure to asbestos can result in several serious diseases such as lung cancer, mesothelioma cancers and asbestosis. Asbestosis is as lung disease that produces shortness of breath, coughing and permanent damage to lungs and Mesothelioma-a rare cancer of membrane covering the chest and abdomen, and cancers of larynx, oropharynx, gastrointestinal tract and kidney.

Regular exposure of asbestos results in occupational diseases such as lung cancer and mesothelioma. Since 1940, millions of American workers, working in shipbuilding companies, mining and milling of asbestos, manufacturing of asbestos textiles and other asbestos products, insulation in construction and building trades, and brake repair were exposed to asbestos. Demolition workers, drywall removers and firefighters are also at risk of being exposed to asbestos that may cause lung cancer in them.

Due to stringent norms and improved work practices, today’s workers face negligible risks of lung cancer from asbestos. Although heavier and longer exposure time is held responsible for the risk but investigators found that brief exposures could also lead to infection. Not only the workers but also their families are at risk of asbestos diseases and lung cancer. Para occupational exposure occurs because asbestos fibers are brought into the house by means of shoes, clothing, skin and hair of workers. To avoid this exposure workers are required to take shower and change their clothing before leaving their workplace.

The difficult portion of asbestos related diseases and asbestos related lung cancer is that they can lie dormant in the body for 10-40 years before manifesting. This makes it difficult to diagnose the disease in its early stages. When the diseases are manifested and diagnosed, it is too late and chances of survival of victims are very bleak.

Research in alternative medicine and conventional therapies to treat Mesothelioma cancer continues to be on the forefront to try and find a cure for this disease. Until an alternative is discovered and shows promise, conventional drugs and therapies such as Alimta and other chemotherapy drugs, surgery to remove tumors, and radiation therapy will be used to slow the cancer growth.

In addition to conventional treatments, a number of therapies from alternative medicine may be able to reduce symptoms of mesothelioma. Called complementary and alternative medicine, or CAM, this diverse group of medical and health care options and practices aren't considered to be a part of mainstream medical practice. However, that doesn't mean that they're ineffective. Some health care providers practice both CAM and conventional medicine, and combine the two with good results. This is referred to as integrative medicine. As much as thirty-six percent of America's adult population are using some form of CAM. This rises to more than sixty percent if prayer and megavitamin therapy are included in the definition of alternative and complementary practices. Rates of alternative therapy use are highest among patients with serious illnesses such as mesothelioma cancer.

Some treatments offered by alternative medicine include acupuncture to relieve pain following surgery for tumor removal, ginger to treat the nausea and vomiting that chemotherapy causes, massage to treat pain from all kinds of cancers, and combining mistletoe extract with chemotherapy to treat tumors. Immunotherapy, also called biological therapy, is also becoming more common. In this therapy, substances called biological response modifiers are used to improve the immune system's ability to recognize and destroy cancer cells, as well as to fight off other diseases.

Photodynamic therapy uses a drug that sensitizes tissues to light, then destroys cancerous cells by exposing them to a laser set to a specific frequency. Gene therapy is a new, but advancing field which treats potentially fatal diseases by modifying an individual's genes therapeutically. Herbal medicines, traditional practices from countries such as China and Japan, and spiritual treatments are also used in CAM. Not all of these therapies have the ability to affect mesothelioma directly, and their effects will tend to vary by patient. However, they can be a big help in managing symptoms and side effects while using conventional treatments.

Those who are interested in using complementary or alternative medicine in their cancer treatment should ask their health care providers. It's important to get the answers to a few questions when considering any therapy, whether alternative or conventional. Information such as the expected benefits of the therapy versus the risks, the potential side effects, and, in the case of alternative or complementary treatments, whether the therapy will interfere with treatments you're already undergoing are helpful. If the therapy is part of a clinical trial, find out who the sponsor is. Many alternative therapies aren't covered fully by health insurance. Some aren't covered at all. It's important to find out before beginning a CAM therapy whether or not your insurance will pay for it. A good place to start finding out about your options is the NCCAM website at http://nccam.nih.gov. From there, you'll be able to get the information to decide what therapies, both conventional and alternative, are right for you.

Indications, Side Effects in Treating Lung Cancer

Lung cancer, while decreasing in frequency, continues to be a major health concern for many active adults. For those who suffer from MPM, malignant pleural mesothelioma, the complications of lung cancer often result in the use of unusual medications.

MPM is a rare form of lung cases with only an approximate 2,000 new cases each year. Unlike most other forms of lung cancer, MPM is usually linked to exposure to asbestos and not to the traditional thoughts of lung cancer involvement, that of cigarette smoking.

To treat malignant pleural mesothelioma, patients are often administered a drug known as Pemetrexed. As one of many drugs classified as MTA, multi-targeted anti-folates, Pemetrexed lends its success to fighting MPM through its ability to block folic acid from reaching cancer cells. Because cellular tissue requires folic acid to grow and reproduce, Pemetrexed prevents the growth and reproduction of the cancer cells that lead to MPM growth.

In the treatment of cancer by chemotherapy, patients who are given Pemetrexed, along with carboplatin, have even shown to experience an increased life span by up to three years when battling malignant pleural mesothelioma.

If you are a patient suffering from MSM, and your oncologist has recommended the use of Pemetrexed as part of your cancer treatment, it is important to obtain information about nutritional supplements that may be necessary during the course of chemotherapy. Because Pemetrexed blocks the vitamin Bs from reaching health tissue, supplementing diet with oral folic acid, prior to treatment, is important.

Side effects associated with Pemetrexed are far fewer than other drugs used in chemotherapy. However, the risks of anemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of weight, itching and burning between treatments and even muscle aches and pains are all quite common.

Unfortunately, not all patients with MSM are candidates for use of Pemetrexed in treating lung cancer. In fact, chemotherapy patients with heart disease, shingles, kidney complications, liver disease and gout should avoid using Pemetrexed in treating MSM.

As with any form of cancer treatment, the key to your management of malignant pleural mesothelioma lies in the early detection and treatment. When discussing treatment options with your healthcare professional, inquire about the use of Pemetrexed, in combination with carboplatin, as a way to not only resolve some of the lung cancer complications but also extend your life span. If agreed as part of your cancer treatment plan, be sure to supplement your diet with the appropriate folic acid to ensure health tissue continues to grow and reproduce as normally as possible.

Mesothelioma is a very rare type of cancer that develop in the outer membrane of some internal organs of the human body, it may develop in the outer membrane of the lungs which known as the pleura, may develop in the outer membrane of the internal organs in the abdominal cavity and may develop in the outer membrane of the heart which known as the pericardium.

Pleural mesothelioma or the cancer of lung lining is the most common type of mesothelioma cancer and often be associated with the asbestos exposure. Asbestos are several minerals that was used in the manufacturing companies, workers which was in the asbestos environment are the most people who can develop mesothelioma due to the direct contact with the asbestos particles, by inhalation asbestos fibers can enter the chest cavity and settle in the pleura (the lung lining) and cause chronic inflammation which may cause malignant tumors after several years.

Pericardial mesothelioma is less common than pleural mesothelioma and related to asbestos exposure, in this type the asbestos particles settle in the pericardium (the heart lining). Scientists don't know how asbestos can get in pericardium, there is an imagine way in which asbestos particles are transfered from the pleura to blood steam then to the heart, the heart pumps them to the pericardium and the disease start to grow there.

Peritoneal mesothelioma is another type of mesothelioma and affects the peritoneum. Peritoneum is the outer membrane of internal organs in the abdominal cavity. Peritoneal mesothelioma is often related to asbestos exposure.

Mesothelioma symptoms may be shortness of breath, cough, chest pain and general weakness. Mesothelioma diagnosis is very difficult, as its symptoms are very similar to other kinds of diseases take very long time to appear 25-50 years. The options of treatments are confined to surgery, chemotherapy ( special chemicals to kill the cancerous cells) and radiotherapy ( using some kind of radiations to get rid of the cancerous cells).

Did you know that mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure can be prevented at home?

Mesothelioma is an illness characterized by scattered pulmonary fibrosis from the infiltration of asbestos dust into the lungs. Current laws restrict the use of asbestos, but many industries used it in the past. Therefore, exposure occurred, and may still occur, in various jobs, comprising of manufacturing and mining of asbestos, shipbuilding, demolition of structures containing asbestos, and roofing. Materials such as cement, clothing brake linings, vinyl asbestos tile, shingles, and fireproof paint, and filters all contained asbestos at one time, and many of these materials are still in existence. Additional diseases related to asbestos exposure include lung cancer, asbestosis, and asbestos pleural effusion.

What is Mesothelioma?

Inhaled asbestos dust enters the body and sticks to the lungs. The common affected area is the mesothelium or the protective sheet that covers the internal organs in the lungs. Mesothelium is located in the chest cavity and the lungs known as pleura.

Asbestos dust triggers the abnormal activity of the mesothelium. They also propagate without control. The onset of the disease is subtle, and the patient has persistent, dry cough, shortness of breath, chest pain brought about by the buildup of fluid in the pleura, weight loss, and abdominal pain.

In the case of mesothelioma, cancer cells can metastasize or undergo the process of metastasis. This is the dissemination or spread of malignant cells from the pulmonary tumor to distant sites by direct spread of tumor cells to body cavities or through lymphatic and blood circulation.

Frequency Cases

Statistical reports show that more than 2,000 Americans are affected with mesothelioma every year. However, even if most cases occur at work, many are still affected right at their own home. This does not necessarily mean homeowners use asbestos at home. Surveys reveal that cases of mesothelioma at home are commonly caused by asbestos dust brought at home.

People who work at industrial companies or construction sites, or simply those who have been inadvertently exposed to asbestos may unconsciously bring asbestos dust at home. Asbestos dust may stick to clothes, hair, skin, cars, or even in their tools. Hence, to avoid Mesothelioma, learn the prevention asbestos at home tips.

Here's how:

1. Learn to recognize asbestos

The problem with most people who get sick with mesothelioma, even if they are not working in an industrial company or construction field, is that they do not know how to recognize asbestos or asbestos-containing products right at their own home.

The government has already passed laws and is now implementing full restrictions and control on the use of asbestos in home products. Asbestos containing products are considered as one of the primary factors for developing mesothelioma.

Hence, if you are planning to buy tools for your home, try to check if they contain asbestos. Some of the products that normally contain asbestos are floor adhesives, door gaskets, boilers, furnace ducts, vinyl floor tiles, textured paint, fireproof gloves, asbestos cement roofing, etc.

2. Buy quality materials

The use of asbestos cannot simply be ignored considering the fact that they have high resistance to fire. However, it is best that you check on the quality of the asbestos containing product you are about to buy. Low quality or damaged products may tend to emit asbestos dust, which can infiltrate your lungs and may develop mesothelioma.

3. Dispose asbestos dust before going home

Workers at an asbestos infested environment must try to eliminate any signs of asbestos dust from his clothing or tools. Before going home, it is best that the employee must take a bath thoroughly and wash his clothes carefully to eradicate asbestos dust.

4. Be wary on floors that contain asbestos

If you have used asbestos containing products in your home, such as the flooring, it is best not to wax or brush the floor. Brushing or waxing the asbestos containing flooring may discharge "microscopic fibers" into the air, increasing the risk of inhaling asbestos dust.

5. Do not sweep suspected asbestos dust

If you think you are about to sweep asbestos dust, leave it alone. Dust particles may only infiltrate the lungs once inhaled. This can be prevented by leaving asbestos dust alone. Do not let them fly into the air.

Prevention is better than cure. Hence, to avoid mesothelioma, it is best to learn the prevention asbestos at home tips and start a life away from health hazard.

How does gene therapy work?

Gene therapy is a procedure for treatment of mesothelioma cancers by altering the expression of a person’s genes in line a therapeutic goal. The objective and aim of gene therapy is centred on rectifying disease at DNA level and to compensate for the abnormal genes.

How does replacement gene therapy work?

Replacement gene therapy displaces a mutated gene, most often a tumor suppressor gene, and replaces it with a normal copy of that gene which function to control cell growth and division. The p53 gene, the most known and common gene altered in cancer has turned out to be a prime target for replacement of gene, and has been successful in preventing cell growth, preventing angiogenesis that is the development of a tumor’s blood supply, and to induce apoptosis.

How does knockout gene therapy work?

Knockout gene therapy aims at the products of oncogenes (a gene that can stimulate the formation of tumour) with effort to rendering them inert and decrease the growth of cell.

How does immunotherapy work?

Immunotherapy, often times referred to as biological therapy is a new procedure for the treatment of mesothelioma cancers, which applies the use the body’s own immune system to fight against disease in mesothelioma patients. Medical Researchers have discovered that the body’s immune system is able to identify the difference between healthy cells and mesothelioma cancers, and destroy the bad or cancerous cells.

Immunotherapy as a treatment of mesothelioma is intended to repair, incite, or improve the body’s immune system’s innate anticancer role.

What is VATS?

Lately, the use of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) have turned out to be one of the most commonly used techniques in mesothelioma diagnosis. Here, mesothelioma patients are usually put under general anesthesia, and then several small ports are cut through the wall of the chest,in the case of pleural mesothelioma. Then a small camera, through a scope is inserted into one of the incision, and tissues specimens or samples are retrieved from other openings using other surgical instruments.

In several cases, thoracotomy can be replaced by this video-assisted technique, which needs a much bigger port to get access to the chest cavity, and because of its minimal invasion, mesothelioma patients usually have less pain after the procedure and a short time to recover. Thoracotomy has been used in peritoneal mesothelioma.

As the word “asbestos” stands for inextinguishable property, the word “mesothelioma” specifically means tumor. The tumor in the later stage takes the form of cancer and spreads in a proliferating way all around the mesothelium lining protecting the different internal organs of the body. Thus if the envelop of a thing gets affected by something deadly will the object inside it remain protected? It applies for Mesothelioma cancer also.

Sprouting of the cancer cells

Infection spreading around the mesothelial cells inside the body mainly circling the heart, the lungs and the stomach results into deadly consequences. The cancerous cells divide into endless numbers and take the shape of small tumors. Fluid deposition begins around the major organs of the body putting life at every risk. Ultimately a Mesothelioma cancer patient dies within two to three years from the diagnosis of the disease.

No other valid reasons have been yet discovered apart from asbestos dust inhalation that is the primary cause of Mesothelioma cancer. As this material gained popularity in the industrial sector, the disease Mesothelioma started taking a brutal shape. More and more people came under its grip. The rise in the number of Mesothelioma patients have risen up to ten folded times. Do you have any justified reason behind such a situation except that for the growth of construction industries and the vivid use of asbestos, thousands of men were left to confront with death in the race of making profits?

Mesothelioma empowerment

Getting empowered through Mesothelioma is something like getting a consolation award. You will die but before dying you may get a huge amount in the form of compensation. The Government and the legal system have intervened into the Mesothelioma cases and come to the conclusion that most of the people suffering from this fatal disease are innocent men and women. Just for earning their livelihood they fall prey for this situation.

So law has been passed that if a Mesothelioma case is proved to be the authority’s fault of not taking any sort of preventive measure to protect its workers then the authority of the company will remain bound to compensate the worker suffering from Mesothelioma. The compensation amount will be decided as per the condition of the patient and also considering the time span he has dedicated to the company. Many even get millions of dollars on the verge of their lifetime. The amount can at least wipe out the tears of the family members though the loss of life cannot be measured in terms of compensation.

This is the disease caused as a result of malignant cancerous cells lining the patient’s body cavities such as chest, abdominal region or the area surrounding the heart. It is very difficult to assess consistently due to the great variability in time before diagnosis and the rate of progression of malignant mesothelioma.

The people who are exposed to asbestos that is their working area or the environment in which they are living are at higher risk of getting this cancer. This disease in many cases does not occur for decades after the exposure to the cancer causing substances. It is also said that all of us are exposed to this disease that is in the air we breath, water we drink, from the natural deposits in the earth and the asbestos products around us

The manufacturers of this asbestos product owners were prosper as they got much income to them. But the workers who worked for it had to ultimately suffer for it. Smoking is also one of the risks for contracting mesothelioma cancer in the people. This also is one of the causes for the development of cancer in the body. We cannot find any of the earliest symptoms are less serious illness and they are neglected. In some cases this cancer does not show the signs of the sickness in the early stages of the development of the disease.

The most common symptoms are dispend, pleurisy pain, lasting cough, fatigue, shortness or difficult in breath, chest pain, chronic or persistent coughs and weight loss. This disease is more found in men than women. This occurs in the people who are above the age of 30 years that is after the initial exposure to asbestos. But it should be treated in its initial stage as early as possible so that it may not go deeper.

The major cause of this disease is the people working with asbestos. During the production of the asbestos products if the tiny particles of it are inhaled or swallowed then this causes serious health problems which in turn lead to mesothelioma cancer. But there are few cases that are reported without any known exposure to asbestos. If we are more exposed to asbestos then this can lead us to lung cancer, chronic lung ailment, other cancers like larynx and kidney.

The faster you consult the doctor or the specialist it would be better to get specialized care for getting better and coming out of it to lead a normal life. So, it is the primary or the basic need to get more information and cure the disease. Many cancer treatment options are not very effective in treating mesothelioma. But at our center we provide you the treatment to reduce the cancerand free you from the suffering from our specialist with the medication which are natural and no side effects.

Although reported incidence rates have increased in the past 20 years, mesothelioma is still a relatively rare cancer. Mesothelioma occurs more often in men than in women and risk increases with age, but this disease can appear in either men or women at any age.

Smoking does not appear to increase the risk of mesothelioma. However, the combination of smoking and asbestos exposure significantly increases a person's risk of developing cancer of the air passageways in the lung. People who work with asbestos wear personal protective equipment to lower their risk of exposure.

Treatment for mesothelioma depends on the location of the cancer, the stage of the disease, and the patient's age and general health. Sometimes, these treatments are combined.
